Why is it nobody is asking just where are employers going to come up with the money to jump all their employees up to $10.10 an hour?
It won't come out of the company's profit. They are not going to cut everyone else's pay to make up the difference.
That leaves only one other way to do it, and that is to raise their prices on whatever goods or services they sell. That means everything will go up in price. So now not only do the people that make more than minimum wage not get a raise, they along with everyone else have to pay more for everything and the people that get the bump end up no better off than they were before because everything is more expensive.
The true shame of the whole thing is that what once were considered entry level unskilled jobs, never meant to support someone and filled mainly by the retired and school kids, now have to be looked upon as viable career choices.
