My experience is that a clean looking high noise floor will likely be caused by a bad return hybrid (especially in C-Cor modules), loose seizure screws or bad terminators. The ring cracks, bad f fittings, etc will always have some sort of humps or signature to them. They won't show a uniformly high noise floor.
