I have experienced AC voltage coming from TV's as well as older VCR's that some customers still want hooked up; I have also seen this cause problems with pic quality inside the home. I personally encourage my installers to have multi meters with them with knowledge on using them.
On one occasion (in an apartment bldg) I found 230 DC volts coming back to the tap from an apartment feed. On this case the DC voltage was due to initial wiring having a long run where cable and power was run together. We turned the building off until an Electrician fixed the issue, and once the cable and power were seperated, there was no issue.
All the above issues were found while I was working in house in systems prior to going all digital. Do not know what would happen to an all digital system.
