Not trying to start an argument with you brother, but was this your first time as a contractor in the industry?  Waiting 3 weeks for your first paycheck is the normal, at least here in Texas.  As for the work not being there as promised whats new with any company do they not all brag about how you will make $80,000 a year and then in reality you end up with $40,000 if you are lucky.  From my experience all of the contractor jobs that I have taken were ran by people who were full of shit and usually did find myself having to pay for my own hotel and food while on the road.  I do not agree with what happened to you with these guys but sadly enough it is the normal in the industry we work in.  If you are lucky enough to find a company that does not treat you that way hold on to it becuase you have one of the few good ones out there.
