What is DirecTV like now?

I have an opportunity to go back to DTV. The last time I worked for them was 2004-06 as a Mastec employee. I don't really remember what I made, other than it was at least adequate.

The last dish I installed was a triple-sat, running 2-4 cables into the home. Now as I understand it, things are multiplexed and a split just like cable, running a single line into the home. Seems to me the install should be much easier. I also hear that DTV values quality over quantity, meaning the days of getting loaded with 10 jobs are in the recent past.

It seems to good to be true, they now give you time to the do the install properly and please the customer, and we're not burdened with pathing 4 cables into the house and then into a usually buggy switch.

I see a lot of "70/15" etc, I assume that is $70 for the install and $15 for each A/O ?

What is it really like as a 1099 contractor now? Can I expect mostly reasonable short days and more straightforward installs?
