This is a tricky one. First of all I have to say I disagree with everything this church stands for. That being said, this has to do with the First Amendment. The Westboro Baptist Church is already considered a hate group by the FBI and is under close watch. In 2011 the Supreme Court ruled that under the First Amendment non-profits are allowed to hold opinions on public issues and that only overtly political activities can cause a church to lose its tax exemption. An example would be it's ok to hold up a sign that says "we hate homos" but not ok to hold up a sign that says "we support prop. 8". If you did you could lose your tax exempt status. I feel by signing this petition I would be saying that I feel it's ok for Obama to by-pass the Supreme Court and change the First Amendment and that would effect all of us. But that's just me. Watch out for Obama, he's sneeky.
