Re: Questions Concerning Criminal Background

Without overlooking the seriousness of offenses that get people into long term jail.........Society has to realize convicted offenders will some day be released. Then what?

My best insight into the matter comes from a state police commander while addressing teachers in a detention facility. He said, " We have discovered during interviews with prospective state police that ALL applicants had some background issue that, if detected and prosecuted, would have resulted in a felony conviction with possible prison time."

What he was saying was that people, especially young people, make mistakes. It is the continued mistakes that gets you locked up.

Nonetheless, without legal employment what is the alternative? My suggestion is to move where employees are needed. Background checks will be ignored in favor of productive contributions to the company. Expunction, of criminal records is possible. Time (7 years) should help. Avoiding future contact with the cops is essential.

Good luck to your brother,
