I am a little younger than you...I got into cable in 87 up in Philly (Fishtown-Kensington areas)...and I can still outclimb the youngins too...but the knee pain the next day, lets just say a bottle of Ibeuprofien is almost as necessary as that morning pot of coffee.
I blame the fall of cable/satellite installation on 2 things;
Young kids getting into this business that dont know any better
and
cable companies going with Primes rather than directly to the local contractor and his guys actually doing the installs.
The Prime at the local Comcast company here pays $1.25 for a DTA seperate trip, $12.50 for a new connect...If you do a new connect and a HSD, you dont get paid for the new connect.
Thank God there is another cable company here in the area or we would all starve to death.
I remember when knowledge and hard work was actually appreciated.
I think it is time to get out of this business (again), but it seems to be like the mafia, you are in it until you are carried out in a pine box.
