I don't know if this applies to your application.
My computer crashed and was replaced, when I reloaded Stealthware I had to go in and change a port number to a USB port because Stealthware only recognized com ports 1 & 2 and the USB ports were 3 through 6. If the program is a few years old this might be an issue.
