The fact is that when they were all trying to work as one and place all their (I'll call them goods because it was more than just food) goods to be divided equally they were failing.
When William Bradford gave each man a plot of land to work as their own and keep what they grew they had more than they could use.
Before Bradford decided to end the everything belongs to the community it was socialism, after all one of the deffonitions of socialism is; a system of society or group living in which there is no private property. When all the land belonged to the colony it was a form of socialism, might not have been the Marxist kind that you are refering to but it was socialism none the less.
As for the third world villages that "work as a whole for the survival of the village". They always have a hierarchy that dictates what people will do for the village. That would be a monarchy, if it's a chief or socialism if it is a group acting as a form of government.
So the facts are that the Pilgrims were failing under their everything for the community/socialism, and they prospered when Bradford applyed free enterprise and conservative ideas. (even if they were not called that at the time). The true reason why America thrived.
I also point out again not one word in the post was directed at Obama or any other president. The whole point of it was to point out why conservatism and free enterprise allowed America to become the country that it is.
If you draw the conclusion that it is pointing out the fact that Obama is a socialistic leader from it then it must be a guilty concience on your part.
