Re: Thinking about becoming a contractor

As a contractor you are in control of what you do.

Having all the insurance requirements
Making and keeping your schedule
As much time off as you want
accept or deny jobs
You will always have operation costs like insurance
You may or may not be working at times
You supply all materials
You have to train yourself
Pay (sometimes being an employee pays better)most pay between 15-60 Days
Have to have good relations with who you plan on doing work with.

Here is the key.  If you say last time you tried the guys were aholes, well
more than likely there will be more of them.  If you search and seek out different
companies you will be fine.  Work with the ones you want and drop others.
I do it all the time.  Treat me like crap I won't work for you.  Real simple.

I wouldn't and wont work for a company that throws work on you and says this is
your route for today.  Because all you are at that point is an employee.  Especially
when they get mad because you didn't wanna do a particular job.

I always look at it as the way they treat you is the way they want to be treated.
If they are good and helpful, then in return you should be.
If there aholes, well simply put im an ahole back. Or I simply choose not to work for them.
