I worked for Mastec doing Directv from 1992-96. I had a company vehicle , gas card, and all materials furnished. I was getting 70-25 and $50.00 for a dish upgrade ( swap old 18" for the 3 sat oval, sometimes it would take you literally 15 minutes to complete the job. The company stipulated $75.00 for a wall fish, $75.00 for a pole mount, I offered them at $50.00 per wall fish and $25.00 per pole mount and made a killing, when Mastec went to $65.00 $15.00 i went out the door, The Supervisor called me for 2 months wanting me to come back, I asked him if he thought experience was a desireable quality in an installer, he quickly answered,,,absolutley!! I then asked him why he would even think that an experienced, quality oriented technician would even consider working for a company or in an industry that deems it standard practice to lower pay to experienced personell every single year. He didn't answer as quicky to that question. I never looked back and that is what EVERY single one of you should have done,,, But then again after seeing the installs out there, I think most of the lead tech's and experienced quality installers actually did leave the industry. If you're still there, you're part, if not ALL of the problem and bitchin about the pay is no ones fault but your own. SORRY!
