The reason people keep doing it is because it still pays better than residential cable installs, and you have custom charges on top of that. DNSC does pay better, but work load is crap, and from what I hear charge backs eat most of the pay up. HSP Sub of Sub work has been on average 55/15 for the past 6 years, not saying I agree with it, I do agree its to low, but a tech can make more money doing 3 DTV installs VS a cable sub doing 8 jobs in the same day. And when you come back with your replys saying " well cable techs don't have to buy thier own supplies blah blah" True, but you also get paid half per install, and rarely do I use $20 worth of materials on a job, some jobs I use less than $5..occasionaly I've used no materials.
From the cable techs I've talked to, they get $10 to do a wall fish...I charge $50 minimum.
