I've used CM1000 in the past and they get the job done, but my concern would be the cable modem feature. I would make sure it's at least DOCSIS2.0 version, I know the first generation were running DOCSIS1.0. Worse case you could use a regular cable modem (D2 or D3) and laptop to confirm 2way and power levels and use the CM1000 to check QAM health.
