I was in a similar situation except I was a construction foreman. Yeah it sucked at first. But I just did things the way I knew they should be done. I just made sure when I was done that: It worked and was to spec. After awhile you will get noticed. I worked for TCI when they were top MSO and by the time I was done I ended  up being the fastest promoted person in TCI East I went from Construction Foreman, Construction Supervisor, Construction manager, to State Construction Manager in 2 years. Not because I kissed ass, it was because I slowly changed things around me and made them more cost efficient, and that bled over to the rest of the system. So you can either get out, stay and take the crap or figure out a way to make yourself stand out. It's all in how much effort you are willing to put into it.
