Technical Bulletin: Change in Pole Mount Policy #20120221
Summary:
Fulfillment Dealers and Installers may provide a Pole Mount installation for the customer at $49.00. Pole
Mounts are no longer part of a Standard Installation. It is strongly recommended that Self-Installing Dealers
and Installers offer Pole Mount installations at $49 to remain competitive. This pricing applies to all pole
mount installations, whether customer request or line-of-sight required.
Effective Date of Change: 2/25/2012
Audience: ViaSat-WildBlue/Exede Dealer Installers and ViaSat-WildBlue/Exede Fulfillment Installers
Pole Mount Installation Requirements
1. Pole Type:
? Schedule 40 Heavy Wall 9 Gauge Galvanized 2-38” O.D. pipe with non-rotational device and Pole
Adapter (cost of Pole Adapter is in addition to pole installation – see Non-Standard Installation
Best Practice Pricing Job Aid )
? Schedule 40 Heavy Wall Galvanized 2” O.D (Gator Pole)with non-rotational device (no Pole
Adapter required)
2. Up to 20 feet of trenching (6” depth) and up to 20 feet of flexible conduit, if using non-flooded cable, or
enough flexible conduit for two protective seeps, if using flooded cable.
3. Minimum of 120 lbs., or 3 bags, of quick-set cement.
4. A hole that is 12” in diameter and has a depth that is a minimum of 36”. Some locations may require a
depth of more than 36” for the pole base to reach below the frost line. In all cases the pole must rise 5
feet above the ground.
