I have done networking my whole life, home networks are a nightmare, either you get someone that "knows it all" or someone that is dumber than a rock. Don't bother either you will end up the enemy or spending way to much supporting them. We supported a marine wifi network and 2000 subs back when pcmcia cards were the connection, wireless sucks and is unreliable there is no way around it, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
We partner with another company, and have them sell a pre-configured router (don't use a modem/router) for $100 which includes a basic setup and phone support (you can pick up refurbs for about $20). The customer presses the buttons, and if they need a computer tech it's $90 an hour.
The problems you will run into are endless... i.e. they have a 1997 laptop, they put the wireless router in a grounded metal box, they live in a cave, they have 3 different antivirus clients running etc.. You need a clear separation between you the operator that will ALWAYS be on the ticket, versus a guy they call out for an hour or two. I have had cable guys spend 2-3 hours trying to help, and or have them call our support 10 times then hate us because their wireless doesn't work.. One bought a new laptop and their wireless didn't work right, it had to be the cable.. plug her into the cable modem and voila it worked fine, but she still wanted us to fix it and it wasn't our router...
Way to many problem possibilities..
