I've known a lot of linemen that couldn't write or speak well, but when it came to the job they were the ones you trusted to get it finished correctly and on time. The best mechanic I knew could read or write, but I saw him take apart a 115 year old steam donkey and make it run again, along with countless drag saws that he would find stuck in stumps for 75 years after they died.
Occasionally we all make mistakes, but I'm sure you guys feel better about your abilities now that you have put someone down for a minor and inconsequential infraction.
All the man was doing was defending his reputation and throwing out an I told you so.
