The thing with the background check law ,"The Free credit Reporting act" its 7 years for misdemenors and 10 for felonys. It only stops the third party from using the information obtained for an adverse action but it does not stop the second party(the employer) from using the info no matter how long ago. And when the third party runs your record they get it all and the second party the employer has access and they can and do use it to deny employment. That law convienienly had a work around.
