You are probably on Unit hours as opposed to regular hours. The difference is that instead of piece work you are billing for a units of time that don't include any overtime. It is the shits. The prime can get away with paying units instead of hourly. Sounds like you are getting shafted though. I have been through the same situation. You should be able to bill for unit hours if you have to go out. No one should have to work for free. I would ask to be paid unit hours if you are on salary. It is only fair that you get comp time for hours worked over 40.
