Try setting up at the base of the pole, and straight up into a 90 block for a set up. If that don't work, and you already have tried all other suggestions, then you'll need to invest in a magic box as said. Yeh, they suck, but it beats having to rake it after the fact, or getting gigged on a weewah and going back, if they still do that.
