Dont you generally install a terminator and then just screw the fitting into the terminator? Or better yet- Anyone still use Drop savers to attach to a free hanging connector? But I agree with one of the first replys- It has to do with advanced services and impedance mismatch. Anything you can do to lessen some random RF artifact should be done I would assume. Techs do put a drip loop at tap and GB so there is extra cable regardless, they just are not allowed to coil anymore.
