I hear you brother ,all the Houses in Bermuda are built out of limestone concrete also. The roofs catch the rain and send it down to an reverse-osmosis tank in the basement . They have houses their that are built on the rocks on the waters edge.I've seen hurricanes take down three story block buildings here in the States.Along with the winds we also have the Atlantic ocean to contend with. The way the ocean floor contours here in the Carolinas from off shore to the beach is one of the things that scare me. A cat 5 has a tidal surge upwards of 20 ft. and waves from 40 to 60 ft.Coupled with winds of 155plus sustained it could wash completly over our barrier island called Bogue Banks after that its our ace.My parents moved here in 1943 and lived through Hazel, they use to talk about her destruction . The first hurricane I recall was Donna in 1960 ,I even though a young ladd can still recall it .Looking out the window of our house I watched major trees blow down in the yard and things blow by like a blurr. I have been through many hurricanes here since then and a couple while I was in Florida. After working so many of these big monsters I have a healthy respect for them .If its a three or above I have one motto "Run Forrest Run" take the things you hold precious with you and get way the hadies out the way . Is your life worth gambling with. The main thing is evacauate early ,once things start to detorate they go down hill quickly . I've been caught by this before and wrecked my truck and the u haul I was dragging due to too much rain. I hit the brakes with plenty of following distance and the water on the road caused my truck and trailer to slide into the back of the truck stopped in front of me . It was like a child on a slip and slide playing in the yard. That was20 some years ago,but I'll never forget it.I've always wanted to go to Japan . I wonder if the difference there is the opposite rotation of the storm , now you got my curisoty up . Thanks for sharing that brother......."WHITFIELD"
I'd rather live my life believeing there is God and die to find out their isn't . Than to live my life as if their wasn't God and die to find out there is ! WHITFIELD
