I read in the papers today that Charter was pulling the plug on gratis cable service in old folks centers and so forth in the St. Louis metro area. They apparently "cannot afford" to provide firehouses and City Halls with free service any longer. They were also just voted one of the "ten worst companies" in a national poll recently. Hmm, I wonder why? Perhaps they are on the verge of filing another bankruptcy? Health care death panels are already inevitable for the "over 65 set" but it would be truly horrific and downright cruel to not allow them to view their favorite cable offerings as their rationed medical treatment slowly chokes the last breath out of them.
I wonder if this has happened in other cities as well? When will they get around to charging little school children for their programming in elementary through high school? Maybe if each little tyke could do with just a bit less food at each meal they could then redirect a small portion of their lunch money toward a basic cable monthly subscription for their school...
Why is Charter cutting free service to government?
