It's not as scary as a lot of these guys make it out to be. I have subbed splicing from primes as sole proprietor and in a partnership for the better part  of the 25 years I've been in this biz. If it is from a prime you feel you can trust then get the LLC and insurance they require. You wil need workers comp if you  have guys working for you so make sure you cover your ass. But other than that the money is always much better straight from the prime. Kept me and my guys fat drunk and happy when the work was still around.
