I actually worked for Paragon for a few years who acquired the old Group-W systems in Torrance, Hawthorne, Gardena, Lawndale and El Segundo. You probably remember Bob, JR and Horacio Guzman who were in those systems back in those days. Those systems were DUAL 450-MHz Texscan. The El Segundo HE was eliminated in the late 1980's and DUAL 1" super-trunk was ran there from a central HE in Gardena that fed EVERYTHING! I remember seeing strand sagging so low that people could jump and almost touch it on Rosecrans Blvd.!
Back in the 1980's, Lakewood, Long Beach and Torrance was not that bad to work in. Was working in Hawthorne area just after the Rodney King riots and it was not fun then. I remember they burnt down the DMV in North Long Beach because some rocket-scientist thought that it would wipe out all the traffic warrants that were on file there!
