I just got back Sat. from a sweep/repair job in the north western Or. area, they were running 450 mHz Magnavox gear with return. The new owner has plans of adding HD programming and phone with plans of raising data from 6 meg. to 18 on tiered packages, they are already running a small number of analogs and around 50 digitals. They have about 600 data customers in about 30 nodes. What you plan on doing will work, you just have to keep up on the maint. and ingress.
