in the old days I think being a contractor was more profitable, as you were making 300-600 a day as a contractor, and you could deal with the expenses of being a contractor, now with contracting as it is today i'm seeing that the average day is about 150 a day if you average it out, and that simply is not enough to support contracting, so now I think in house/employee is the way to go, you might be making minimum wage or a little better, but you are not sinking backwards until you find a better job, and you are not destroying your vehicle.at 150-200 a day it is simply not enough to cover gas, materials, vehicle repair and up keep, and tools, if you take out the expenses and overhead, you are down to around 50-75 a day, throw in some back charges and you can be down to 25-50 a day for a 10-12 hour day, its modern day slavery.
