About 10 years ago I was pulling fiber in a fiberglass bucket and the reel stopped.
The bucket desinigrated and I fell 32 feet (no lanyard) and broke my foot in 3 places.
Just last week I was working (alone) and the parking brake failed (Manual transmission) and the truck started to roll into oncoming traffic.
I didn't have time to boom down and stop the truck, so I jumped out of the bucket (about 12 feet) in order to stop the truck just in time.
Had I had a lanyard on then, I wouldn't have had time to avoid setting slammed by oncoming traffic.
Even after a serious injury, I still think they can be VERY dangerous.
