As an employee...if you are injured on the job Workman's Compensation Insurance will fix you without limit. In exchange for this medical coverage you are barred from suing the employer. This varies from state to state. The employer pays for this mandatory insurance.

As a contractor....you are presenting yourself as a business. You agree to perform tasks and provide services. If you cannot provide the contracted services you send another of your employees. If you cannot provide the contracted services your contract can be voided and another contractor can be assigned to provide the service.

As a contractor your bid to provide the service should be sufficient to cover insurance...including Workman's Compensation Insurance for the employee you send because you are injured.


It goes like that. If you have to ask...you are entering a whole new world. Welcome, I think.
