Did you check to see if the constellation are OK on that Qam where the modem work on, at the Tap. What you could do is check your adjacent channel to the Qam that the modem is on and check to see if the level are pretty much flat. You will check the channel before and after that Qam, if you have more that a 3db difference that will cause unnoticeable Issues with Modem dropping off. Intermittent Noise and CLI as well. Balancing also the level you are giving after a 8 way splitter are low you should be at lease + or - 6 and the Return at 48-54. In our plant modem cant be on a in house amp causes issues.
