The house amp delima

I recently did a job in which had a house amp for the floor.  Why did a insaller turned supervisor, who hasnt done construction in his life, argued me down that a house amp only goes in a residence and there is no such thing as a house amp for coax feeding a floor of a bld.  He said he had seen such an amp but it is not called a house amp.  Now thats the difference between an installs and construction.  So I ask for your opinion or help. Whose right me or him? (lol)
