comcast firing subs

comcast came in to our meeting today and stated they fired around 625 sub-contracting companys out 700 subs they have working for them  i was wondering if anyone really lost their job or is it bullcrap ment to scare techs into working better they told us that if one tech was caught not complying with safety or work procedures they would suspend the whole company for 90 days no work shut the doors for 90  days anyone hear anything like this???
