Anytime you use your equipment to verify services, have the sub sign off on it as well as notated on the account. I wouldnt have paid the claim. I would have informed the sub that the tvs were not there, how could the tech break her tv.
Our "LOCO" MSO tried to put a claim on me that I broke 3 laptops when I installed wireless on each. They wanted new laptops. I flat refused. It took a few weeks, but eventually deemed that connecting to a wireless network will not break a laptop.
