The only thing I might add to what has been said.....two things..IF you have the 101 peaked the 103 is only three degrees awat so, without ever using a Birdog, you give a small push (poosh) west...about 1 degree from the mark you make before the  pooosh.  +  ONE of the recent HD receivers,  the H23, has an internal BBC and doesn't need a second one.

Do a RBR (Red Button Reset) and see what the autodetect says.

Of everything mentioned so far...my next step would be to swap a know-to-be-good receiver in and see what you get.
Then check everything outside.
