You are not wrong, you hit the nail right on the head. The only time you see anything from upper management now is when they are having a meeting to try and sell you more negativity. If you see someone bringing in doughnuts, beware, you are about to hear bad news.
The initial push by MSO's to convert to employee labor seemed like a good thing at the time, and companies like Prince, MASTEC, Vitel, and the rest of the big contractors got sucked in. Sure, the MSO's payed good money for a few years to allow the sub companies to purchase their trucks and fund the transition, all the while all they were really doing was limiting the potential litigation from the IRS and the DOL. Once they had everybody neatly tied up they pulled the plug on the rates and they now have these companies with no other option, doing whatever they want, for 40 -50% less than they were paying, and what can the Sub companies do, most of them are publicly traded companies, they have to stay in business.
The days of getting everybody together for a beer, or a party were done, they couldn't risk the liability, the whole game became limit your exposure
So they try and make money by cutting corners, inexperienced, ineffective management, who create more issues than they solve, and they continue to cut the rates to the employees.
The days to work in this business has passed, at all levels, unless you are the MSO.
