The first (and last) thing you need to understand is the fact there is no such thing as a "sub-contractor" in the cable or satellite industry. It's merely a figment of your imagination, or more correctly , the imagiination of a band of thieves. Once upon a time, there were "independents" that made a fairly decent living , contracting to do this work! The  independents were manipulated out of existence years ago by a band of thieves and collusion among the providers and a handful of investors with money that could last a few months before payment, shell out a wad of cash to get the job done and collect 70% interest on their investment, merely by having the capability to wait that 3 to 6 months to see their profits. A whole lot better pay-off for their investment than any bank or share of stock could offer with little to none of the risk involved in that investment. Labor laws were conveniently side-stepped. None of the protections guaranteed to an employee when they conned you in to thinking you were a businessman! Wise up! You're no more a businessman (contractor-sub) than a WalMart store greeter with even less benefits. LOL!!!
