+1 From a sat guy,
I left cable after a brief period at the installer level for the better money with Primestar and then Directv. Money in the sats is now also so low that if it wasn't for the existing coax provided by the CATV companies there would not be enough money in installations to do anything.
As a generalization from my limited experience in a few east coast markets...the CATV companies d not solicit new business or try very hard to get back the cx they loose to sats AND they do not fix their systems.
