Hopefully one of you guys can enlighten me on this one,
Is there a maximum RF output limitation for forward RF? I thought I once heard that you don't want an output level greater than 50dB on forward channels because it would harmonically interfere with the adjacent channels (bleed over).
Is this correct?
I just recently started working for a small cable system that is using 870 bandwidth, and is all analog aside from two blank channels for future HSD carriers. They are going with fiber to terminating feeder, but it seems that they are pushing the envelope on feeder distance. The idea they have is to get a node running at 50dB or possibly a little higher to overcome the length losses. They are looking to use SA6940 nodes which have 26dB gain which means my RF input level to the RX would have to be 24dB or greater to achieve more than 50dB output level on high pilot.
Two questions:
1. Is 50dB the max?
2. Can you hit a 6940 with that much input RF (24db +) without negatively affecting output performance?
