I sort of worked for the very simple installations. I never knew how many installations did not happen, resulting in equipment floating around and misc costs being eaten by Directv.
For several years I got my two or three installation jobs out of my fax machine and did local work. The HSPs kissed ass for the service calls and pitched a better deal. My view has been that the HSPs did the same level of performance for Directv but their profit came from the installers' money.
The other thing I never knew was what Directv paid per activation and what was left for the HSP and / or fulfillment company to share.
