As we all know there is no such thing as an "industry standard". I have learned that every system thinks their way of doing things is the "Industry Standard".
What you did miss, unfortunatley, was getting that particualr system's construction specifications before starting. Before starting any work on any system I always request that system's specs for this very reason.
