1988 F-350 with Telsta Boom

I have a 1988 F-350 bucket truck. I need to jig out cable runs with it but with the boom pump on, when we go to put it in drive it shuts the truck off. There must be some kind of safety mechanism on this year & model. How can I disengage it & be able to drive out cable & work the boom at the same time?
