I pretty much agree with your assessment. At least, I don't think BP wants to stop the well, as that would not give them any revenue. At best they may partially block the flow, leaving the door open to complete the so called "relief" well(s) so they can continue to make money from that oil pool. I don't think they give a rats ass about all the damage and pollution being done. That can be gleaned by parsing some of their comments. It appears that they may be trying to hide as much of the oil that is being released as possible. Even using highly toxic dispersants to keep much of the oil from rising to the surface. It seems an effort has been made to Keep as much of the oil under the surface of the water, so it can't be seen, even though that poses an even greater ecological risk. Apparently that means nothing to them.
