I use a Fitel, and it is core aligning. On a job a couple years ago we had Fitel, Corning, Fugi, and Sumotomo on the job, and we all had problems. I just ran into some of it again last week is all, and it takes way to long to burn it together. Switching the machine to multi mode helped the most, but I don't think that should be the answer to splice single mode Draka. Fiber geometry; I tend to think is the biggest problem.
