Re: Let's shut it all down

How can you even think those 2 are the same? One auto manufacturer vs oil companies? First of all they would have just gone bankrupt and reorganized. 2nd if Ford and other companies didn't need a bail out then why did 2? Also it wouldn't have come close to the impact shutting down oil exploration in the US and taxing 4 times the current rate will have on the entire nation.

Environmentalist liberals have made it more difficult to get oil forcing oil companies farther out to sea and into conditions that make it more dangerous. It would be better and safer in shallower water and closer to shore. And I find it suspicious that a state of the art rig conveniently blew up in 5000 feet of water making pretty hard to know for sure what happened. Equally suspicious that all the safeguards didn't work. But it is what it is.

We didn't have an oil spill in alaska in 79 or 2010. It was 89 and it was liberals that made that spill worse than it had to be. Oh I was there by the way. I know more about oil in Alaska than you do or what you read in your liberal web sites or news casts that show ONE side of the issue. I have relatives and friends who work in the oil industry and I have been in those oil fields and seen first hand. Have you? You been to Alaska and worked in the oil fields? The caribou live and THRIVE in those fields because food is there. They have such big populations that they have to cull the herd. Didn't happen before the evil oil fields were there.

In 79 Mexico had the worst spill in history and it went for 9 months. But guess what the gulf is still there. The fish are still there. The shrimp are still there and the coast is still there. I was in Valdez during the oil spill in 89 and I am betting you weren't. I spoke with oil spill clean up specialists, who were contractors and did NOT work for any oil company. They informed me this could have been averted with the blowing of the ship which the ENVIRONMENTALISTS didn't allow. You can blame any damage done on those liberals for not knowing about oil and making the situation worse than it had to be. In cold water after a short time, oil congeals and goes under the surface making booms useless. But had the ship been blown immediately, none of the shore damage would have occurred. Don't tell me of the air pollution because we have volcanoes that go off now and then and one ship of oil burning is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING compared to the pollution they put out.

They also said the worst spill from a ship was off the coast of France with 27 million gallons, Valdez was 11, and that, inside of 2 years no damage was visible. They told me nature would clean it up. They also told me that more oil seeps out of the ocean floor in a year off of the coast of California and comes to the beaches than all the spills in history combined. I will believe clean up specialists before I will a liberal site. I will also believe my own eyes before propaganda.

I was fishing in Valdez a year after the Exxon Valdez and did for the next 13 years in a row. Caught my limit every time. I never saw one animal covered in oil after the first year. And never saw one on the beach. They were all picked up and cleaned up except the ones that didn't make it. Don't think me unsympathetic. I love animals and hated it. But I knew they would recover. Nature will recover one way or the other.

I agree 100 percent that if they lied and broke the law throw the book at them. But to shut it all down so we can keep paying foreign oil companies for something we need for every facet of life until alternative energy is abundant is ludicrous and political. Oil should have never been political. But that is what the left does. Politicizes everything.

Now this last line is the one I really want you to focus on............I am for alternative energy but I recognize the need for oil NOW. And we don't need to be paying another nation for it when we have all we need right here. Let's get ours and work on the new energy quickly so we can get off of the dependence on oil. It will provide jobs on both levels, oil and alternative energy and if we faze out the oil slowly the jobs will be absorbed elsewhere. I want a clean planet. But logic says this is what we have now so let's use it and work on a better solution.
