Yea your smoking affects other kids. your candy won't harm them. Why can't a child have a piece of candy at school? School isn't for telling people what they can and can't eat. I pay equal taxes and should have say so in what I allow my child to have for a treat after eating a good meal. Punishment is still ridiculous for that.
