If it never was then why was it mentioned in your post?
Do me a favor, go into any grocery store and look for any Marie Callender product and NOTICE the sodium content. The same with any pizza, fresh or frozen, soup or boxed dinner. Do they really need all that salt in those products?
Most all food products contain a certain amount of natural salt. Food manufacturers add salt to preserve the product. It is not added to enhance flavor. Does that Big-Mac really need to have 1000mg of salt in it?
The FDA wants to limit the amount of salt in food products so people WILL HAVE A CHOICE when they buy food to not have excess salt in it.
For people who like salty foods, they will still be able to add as much salt as they please with out affecting the people who are salt sensitive, or people with high blood pressure.
What you may see as "control", other people see as "salvation". For people who are salt sensitive, and people who have high blood pressure, they will now have a greater choice in the food that they consume.
