You outlined 9.5 hours worth of work plus he had to have drive time of a couple of hours so now you must pay OT as there is no skirting around that. The bad with the good mentality just does not apply to cable anymore as it's all just bad on top of bad.
Sounds like you did a whole lot of work last year for 64k before the tax man gets his share. That shows me you ain't been doing this that long as you could have ran a landscaping biz with 10 employees, paid them a better wage, and made yourself and your partners a whole lot more $$$.
