i know the reasoning behind the 7.40 hr thing.... we all know its the stupid point system a lot of the company are going too that drops the rate, and they figure to use the " win some lose some" scheme but like the casinos, it favors the house" or company" lets say they give you 4 jobs , they figure 8 hrs for the day cause of the time frames, your first job takes you 30 mins to install and they give you 3 hrs of pay for it, you win, the next job is 1hr pay but takes you 3, the nest pays 2hrs takes you 3 and the last pays and the last pays 2hrs but takes 3, well the company only has to pay you for the 8hrs they scheduled you even though you actually worked longer. there defense will definitely be " well he was given enough time for each job, not our fault hes slow" but on the other side they say you can make more , you just have to pick up more work which would bump that up a lot more, and YOU chose not too, its all political BS. and i know it skirts the labor lines cause while technaly you can make more than 7.40 an hr, you cant cause of travel times, and other stuff.
i know ive had a job b4, where it was an 8-10 am job, but the guy just remodeled his house and ripped everything out and never ran new lines b4 dry walling, and he wanted every outlet fished, guess how many, 12 outlets, not to mention running a drop down a pole and burying 50 yards to the house and putting in 9 receivers, a modem, wireless router, and phone services.... took me over 14hrs for the job and i has 5 jobs scheduled for the whole day... thats a load of BS
but company don't care for anyone anymore its a fact of life, if your not a majority share holder than FU...
now i own y own install company, cause after years of this going on i wanted to do it the right way, i fight for my subs, i treat them as subs, but i also go above what is expected of an owner, i have health care available to them, and i pay 37% of there cost, and its not crappie coverage either, ive payed for repair cost on my techs vehicles, and they pay me back so there not in a bind with there families, ive helped out everyone of them that need it, co signed for 2 vehicles for techs, all because its how it should be with any company. honestly all company need to re-evaluate there business practice and see they hare hurting more ppl than they think there helping, the bottom line isn't always the best line to follow
last year my company made a little over 383,000 dollars thats after everything, and between me and the other 2 owners we all got like 57-64k in salaries, the rest went to our techs as true bonuses and a company party, and guess what, the party was on a friday , and we told comcast 2 day's b4 we though it that we weren't working that friday and saturday.... and there was nothing they could do, and we still have our contract.
this isn't me patting myself on the back, this is to let you know there are company out there still fighting for the subs, i know one day we probly will lose our contract, and be screwed but we will know that at least we did whats right and not whats the most profitable
