Install and disconnect cable TV, standard, HDTV, and DVR cable boxes and cable modems for high speed internet access to include setting up home computers with appropriate software or other technologies as defined by customer needs. When and where offered for sale in the cable system, VoIP installations may also be a part of the portfolio of skills and responsibilities. Ensures all project standards and procedures as required by customer are met. Performs New Connects, Reconnects, Disconnects, Additional outlets, installs and/or removes Converters. Performs upgrades and downgrades of service, and removal of traps. Performs customer drop installations (exterior and interior) complete from Tap to TV location. Analyzes picture quality and judges acceptability of picture delivered following installation of cable service. Measures signal levels.

Responsibilities include complete support of project management to include handling/directing work that must be done manually or by the use of small power tools. Field work may include, but not be limited to, drilling, climbing and crawling in attics or basements, traffic control duties and the safety of the general public. Keep workspace and trucks clean and in order. Stock truck(s) with material and tools needed for each day’s work. Additional assignments may include routing, dispatching or other day-to-day support activities.
Include the following, other duties may be assigned.
-Ability to drive a van, pick-up truck or similar vehicle
-Read a map
-Climb ladders and poles to heights of 32 feet
-Frequently lift objects that weigh up to 75 pounds such as ladders, spools of cable, etc.
-Bend, reach, stoop, kneel, sit and crawl during installation work
-Operate hydraulic buckets when working aloft on poles and towers, or work in confined spaces to install cables and associated equipment
-Manual dexterity to use hand and electric tools such as screw drivers, wire strippers/coring tools and compression tools, electric drills, test equipment such as toners and meters, etc.
-No fear of heights or working in confined areas, crawl spaces or attics
-Knowledge and use of basic electronic devices such as meters and test devices to determine signal level, leakage, etc.
-Install aerial or underground cable from the tap to the residence for connection to include attaching ground wire
-Make connections to house receptacles or establish outlets based on customer’s desires
-Verify cable signal using a signal meter or other testing devices
-Interact with customers to include education of services in their home and a providing channel guide
-Install basic digital cable, HDTV, and DVR boxes
-Install cable modems for high speed internet and install software on customer’s home computer
-Install MTA and all associated devices and connections to establish VoIP service
-Perform disconnection of cable and high speed internet access services
-Communicate with dispatcher after completion of each job
-Collect and account for “collect on delivery” (COD) installations (personal check or first party money orders only)
-Maintain sufficient inventory of installation materials and be accountable for usage
-Report to work in compliance with the Company’s personal appearance and uniform policies
-Complete end of day paper work and time sheet daily
-Clean the interior of the Company’s vehicle daily of any debris or spills to include organizing installation materials
-Complete annual ladder safety certification training
-Adhere to safety practices and procedures
